LOWELL -- Frances M. (Jones) Peabody, a resident of New England Homes for the Deaf in Danvers, MA, formerly a longtime resident of Lowell, died July 29, 2014, in Danvers, aged 89 years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Fred H. Peabody Jr., who died in 2004.

Born in Medford, May 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Scheid) Jones. She attended the Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph, and graduated from the Horace Mann School for the Deaf in Roxbury.

After Frances and Fred married, they settled in Lowell, where she worked at Alexander's Market until it closed. She then became affiliated with St. John's Hospital, until she retired in 1990.

She and Fred enjoyed the company of their many friends in the deaf community and were members of the Lawrence Deaf Club.

Mrs. Peabody is survived by five nieces, Linda Riddle of Falmouth, MA, who is the daughter of her beloved late sister, Elizabeth (Jones) Riddle; Diane Mansolilli, Carleen Wahlgren, Judith Theriault and her husband Joseph, and Sandra Barbeau; three nephews, Melbern Peabody, William Peabody and Barry Peabody; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and two sisters-in-law, Joey Jones and Wanda Peabody. She was also the sister of the late Samuel Jones and Lawrence Jones.
