LOWELL -- Jean W. Mansfield, 83, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away on July 31, 2014, at D'Youville Life & Wellness Community, Lowell.

She was the beloved aunt of Amba Rust Coltman of Chelmsford, Cheryl Lee Rust of Wiscasset, Maine, Jon R. Mansfield of Chelmsford, Peter W. Mansfield of Holliston, Steven M. Mansfield of Napa, CA, and the late Tacie P. Mansfield of Newburyport.

Jean was predeceased by her brother, Jefferson R. Mansfield, Jr., and her sister, Charlotte M. Hodgman.

She was the daughter of the late Jefferson and Alice (Willmott) Mansfield of the Highland section of Lowell. Her father was treasurer for the Courier Citizen in Lowell; her mother was chairwoman of the Girl Scout camp Reynolds on Little Island Pond in Pelham, New Hampshire and served on the board of the Visiting Nurses of Greater Lowell (VNA).

Jean's professional life was committed to a long nursing career and excellence in nursing education. She was a graduate of Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing, and received her B.S., M.S., and CAGS from Boston University. During her career, she worked at various Massachusetts hospitals and in public health nursing and taught at Boston, Fitchburg, and Tewksbury.

Following retirement, she found special joy and fulfillment in philanthropic work. She was an active board member for over 30 years at the Greater Lowell VNA, now Circle Home Inc. She loved children, animals, photography, and music.

Jean also found much fulfillment as a very active member of the congregation in St. Anne's Episcopal Church in North Billerica.

MANSFIELD -- JEAN W. Visiting hours Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 o'clock at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 14 Treble Cove Rd., N. Billerica. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Private interment will take place in Edson Cemetery, Lowell.
