Laurie A. Sawyer Wilmington, active in community service; 40 WILMINGTON Ms. Laurie A. Sawyer, age 40, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the Winchester Hospital, following a lengthy battle with diabetes. Born in Woburn, MA, on April 19, 1968, Laurie was the beloved daughter of Victor G. & Diane J. (Rossi) Sawyer of Wilmington. Laurie grew up in Wilmington, she attended Wilmington Public Schools and graduated from Wilmington High School Class of 1987. Laurie was very involved in community service and doing for others, she volunteered at Camp 40 Acres in Wilmington, she was a camper and then a Counselor for many years at the Clara Barton Camp which is sponsored by the Joslin Diabetes Clinic. Laurie along with her son, Ryan volunteered countless hours for the Mission of Deeds, where they helped many people in need. Laurie loved children, she babysat for everyone, and the children were extremely fond of Laurie. She also worked at the Day Care Center at the Abundant Life Christian Center in Wilmington for years. Laurie loved people, she enjoyed getting and giving hugs, doing for others, and always put someone else's needs before her own. She was fondly known to family and friends as "their Angel". Laurie was devoted to her family, she enjoyed family functions and parties, she was extremely dedicated to and proud of her son Ryan, she taught him courage and independence and he in turn helped his mother tremendously throughout her illness. Laurie was a woman who set many examples of strength, endurance, and hope to everyone who knew her, she will be greatly missed by all. Besides her parents who survive her, Laurie was the devoted mother of Ryan D. Webster-Sawyer, she was the dear sister of Jimmy Sawyer & his fiancée, Sarah Stevens, and the late Linda & Lisa Sawyer, all of Wilmington, Laurie is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. SAWYER Laurie A., age 40, of Wilmington, unexpectedly, April 1, 2009. Devoted mother of Ryan D. Webster-Sawyer, beloved daughter of Victor G. & Diane J. (Rossi) Sawyer all of Wilmington. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6th at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Sunday, April 5th from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
