CHELMSFORD -- Mr. Michael Joseph DiMartino, of Chelmsford, MA, died Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Lowell General Hospital.

He was married to Mrs. Mary R. (Avila) DiMartino with whom he would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on November 24, 2010.

Michael was born in Lowell, MA on December 8, 1924, the son of the late Vito and Nicolina (DiConza) DiMartino. He was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1943.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II in the Pacific Area.

He retired in 1991 from the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Bedford, MA.

He was a communicant of St. Mary Church of Chelmsford, MA.

He was a life member of the Chelmsford Elks.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Vincent and Louise (Avila) DiMartino of Webster, NY; his brother-in-law and his wife, Manuel and Geraldine Avila of Chelmsford; his sister-in-law and her husband, Beatrice, and Robert Donnelly of Chelmsford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Mary Baart of Rochester, NY.

DiMARTINO -- A Funeral Mass was held Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Chelmsford. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 978-251-4041. Guestbook at
