Mary Louise (Orrall) Wilson

Obituary Condolences

Mary Louise (Orrall) Wilson
Loving mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother; 82

DRACUT, MA -- Mary Louise (Orrall) Wilson, 82, of Dracut, died peacefully Sunday, November 6, surrounded by her family.

Born in Malden on November 29, 1928, Mary was the daughter of Sherburne M. and Ladonia K. (Guild) Orrall.

She is predeceased by her husband, Charlie, and three beloved sisters, Ollie, Rena, and Irma.

For more than 30 years, Mary worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lowell, MA, where she managed the Emergency Room for more than a decade. Her love of nursing served as an inspiration to her daughter, Karen and granddaughter, Barbie who both became Registered Nurses. Her passion for nursing and caring for her family was always central to her life.

She was one of only five nurses in the Lowell area to pass the first National Certification Exam in the specialty of Emergency Room Nursing in 1980. Mary continued to manage the Emergency Room until her retirement. Her reputation as a professional, compassionate and devoted nurse is echoed by the many lifelong friends made along the way.

She enjoyed baking, gardening, solving crossword puzzles, ceramics, but most importantly spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing card games (where it is rumored she would occasionally pass a card or two under the table to the youngest players who were struggling to stay in the game). She especially loved the large July 4th family gatherings around the pool at Chuck and Tammy Wilson's home, and the laughter and joy of the lively family celebrations every Christmas Eve where she would preside as the grand matriarch.

Mary, the widow of the late Charles R. Wilson Sr., who died in 2004, is survived and will be deeply missed by her five children and their spouses, 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and countless others.

Surviving her are five children and their spouses, Paula Sherrill of Deming, New Mexico, Karen And Robert Carlson of Dracut, MA, Susan and David Phillips of Amherst, NH, Chuck and Tammy Wilson of Hampstead, NH, and Linda and Rob Hillger of Newburyport, MA; 20 cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Wesley, Rich, Susan, Barbara, Michael, David, Matthew, Jimmy, Ashley, Amy, Julie, Justin, Jordan, Jacob, Felicia, Amanda, Nicholas, and Lexi; and 14 cherished great-grandchildren, Jessie, Benjamin, Christopher, Matthew, Jaydon, Madisyn, Nathaniel, Cody, Dustin, Adam, Trevor, Arianna, Riley, and Logan.

Also surviving her are her sister-in-law, Helen Fearon of Dracut; her brother-in-law, Don Keith of Florida; her brother-in-law, Bob Mackey of Florida; and her brother-in-law, Peter Goethal of California; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

WILSON -- At Mary's request all arrangements are private and under the directions of the Dracut Funeral Home 2159 Dracut, MA.
