Former secretary of Chelmsford Conservation Commission
CHELMSFORD -- Marjorie R. Hennessy, a life-long resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Hennessy who preceded her in death on July 17, 1980.
She was born in Chelmsford the daughter of the late Edward B. and Mildred (Cambridge) Russell. Marjorie was a graduate of Chelmsford High School and attended Bryant and Stratton Business School in Boston. After graduation she worked in various administrative positions but found her true calling assisting her husband, Bill, in the running of their insurance business in Chelmsford for many years. This was followed by service to the Town of Chelmsford as secretary to the Conservation Commission until her retirement.
Marjorie was a communicant of the First Parish Unitarian Church in Chelmsford. She was an avid reader, the number one fan of "old Blue Eyes", Frank Sinatra, had a passion for tennis and loved her animals. Above all she was a warm, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all in her life.
Marjorie is survived by three loving children, James R. Hennessy of Chelmsford, Jane A. Hennessy of Tucson, Arizona and Joan H. Doyle and her husband, Thomas of Chelmsford. She also leaves five (5) wonderful grandchildren whom she adored, Jamison Hult and his fiancé, Kelly Harmon, Amanda Marenghi and her husband John, Molly Hennessy and her husband Travis Struecker, Andrew W. Doyle and Jeffrey J. Doyle. She was the sister of the late Chester C. Russell.
The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all of the staff at Sunny Acres Nursing Home for the kindness and compassion shown to Marjorie and her family.
HENNESSY -- Marjorie R. Hennessy. Lifelong resident of Chelmsford, died on October 11, 2012. A private family service will be held on Monday morning, October 15, 2012 at 10:00 o'clock am at BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts with interment to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, 130 Billerica Rd., Chelmsford. Arrangements by BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Kitty Angels (Tyngsboro, MA) and/or the Lowell Humane Society.
