LOWELL -- Rita L. Angelo, 87, a Lowell native, and former resident of North Chelmsford, died on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at D'Youville Rehabilitation and Senior Care Center.
Rita was the beloved wife of the late Paul J. Angelo Jr. with whom she had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2007 before his passing in March 2008.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on February 10, 1925, the daughter of the late John and the late Leivona Bagdonas. Rita was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1942.
She is survived by three daughters, Judith L. Paletta and her husband, Terry of Newburyport, Nancy E. Amante and her husband, Jerry of Townsend, and Barbara L. Dowd and her husband, Brian of Chelmsford. Rita also leaves 12 loving grandchildren, Lisa A. Helmbacher and husband, Kevin of Encinitas, CA, Terrence P. Paletta and wife, Paula of Merrimack, NH, Amy L. Kelly and husband, David of Hudson, NH, G. Michael Amante and wife, Avery of Gloucester, MA, Kevin P. Amante of Boston, MA, Daniel J. Amante and wife, Anita of Brighton, MA, Christopher J. Amante of Boulder, Colorado, and Kathleen M. Amante of Townsend, MA, Timothy P. Dowd, David J. Dowd, Kelly M. Dowd, and Joseph W. Dowd of Chelmsford, MA; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, M. Alice Rodger and her husband, Raymond Boyle of Lowell; sister-in-law, Jeanette Macone of Acton; and brother-in-law, James E. Angelo of Haverhill; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rita and her husband spent many happy winters in Melbourne Beach, Florida, returning to their North Hampton Beach, NH residence each summer to enjoy all their children and grandchildren. In her later years, she settled back in the Lowell area, surrounded by her loving and supportive family. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.

Angelo, Jr. Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 7 P.M Monday. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (Lower Church) in Lowell at 11 o'clock. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury.
