lifelong resident of Lowell; 87

LOWELL -- Mr. Alec V. Tsaknopoulos, 87, passed away Saturday December 29th at Lowell General Hospital.

Alec was born June 25, 1925 in Lowell, Massachusetts a son of the late Vasilios and Vasilike (Dullas) Tsaknopoulos. In 1979, Alec lost his wife Angelike "Kiki" (Hantzis) whom he married in 1952.

A lifelong resident, Alec was educated through the Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School. He served his country in the army, receiving a purple heart while stationed in Normandy during World War II.

Alec worked for over forty years at the Bedford V.A. as a male orderly. He was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell and was a member of the church's Men Guild.

He is survived by his two sons, Vasilios Tsaknopoulos of Leominster, Christos Tsaknopoulos and his fiancé Joanna Gallant of Lowell; two daughters, Vasilike Wallace and her husband William of Pepperell, Debbie Tsaknopoulos of Lowell; a sister, Anastasia Roux of Westford; five grandchildren, Angelike Wallace of San Diego, William Wallace of Lowell, Christina Tsaknopoulos of Leominster, Derek Tsaknopoulos, Autumn Tsaknopoulos of Lowell.

Alec was predeceased by his sister, Katherine Tsaknopoulos.

TSAKNOPOULOS -- Friends will be received at the M. R. LAURIN FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will take place on Thursday from the Funeral Home at 9:00am to be followed by services at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell at 10:00a.m. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Louis M. Fazio III, M. Richard Laurin, and Scott Laurin.
