LOWELL -- Vera M. (Curley) McAnespie, 71, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was the widow of the late John P. McAnespie who passed away in 2006.
A daughter of the late James and the late Loretta (Williamson) Curley, she was born October 31, 1941, in Lowell. She was educated in the local schools, graduated from Somerville Hospital School of Nursing, and attained her Master of Science and Master of Nursing Education from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
Mrs. McAnespie was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and especially enjoyed traveling, specifically to Bermuda and Hawaii. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Vera worked as an RN at St. John's Hospital, the last position that she held was Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department. She then worked at Medical Center of Greater Lowell as Nurse Manager for 16 years. She then worked at Tufts Insurance as a Case Manager for a number of years before working at Network Health where she was employed at the time of her death.
She is survived by her son, John P. McAnespie II and his wife, Judy, of Lowell; her daughters, Robin Foster and her husband, Darrel, of Lowell and Marybeth Longstreth and her husband, Doug, of Van Wert, Ohio; her grandchildren, Ashley McAnespie, Christina McAnespie, and Colleen McAnespie, Meg Foster, Corey Longstreth, Kyle Longstreth, Jennifer Longstreth, Aurora Longstreth, and Sarah Longstreth; her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Longstreth; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also a sister of the late John "Jack" Curley.
