PELHAM, NH -- Augustine J. "Gus" Gamache, 85, a longtime resident of Pelham, NH, died Monday April 29, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation - Greebriar in Nashua, NH.
He was the husband of the late Patricia A. (Burgandine) Gamache who died March 7, 2002.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, October 12, 1927, the son of the late Napoleon and the late Joanna (Kimmond) Gamache, he received his education in the Lawrence school system.
A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Gus proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army for over 22 years where he received numerous awards and citations for meritorious service to his country.
Following the war, Gus worked for the Litchfield, New Hampshire school system at the Griffin Memorial School in the maintenance department for many years.
Gus had many interests in his life but his true passion was in the support and participation with Drum and Bugle shows throughout the country. He was the manager of the former Polish American Veteran's Rangers Drum and Bugle Corp of Lowell. He also traveled to watch the Renegades of San Francisco, CA and the Bridgemen of Bayonne, NJ.
In addition, he was active with the American Legion Post 100 in Pelham and the Pelham VFW.
Gus is survived by his son, Joseph Gamache of Pelham; a grandson, Joseph Gamache, Jr. and his wife, Amanda of Greenfield, MA; a great-granddaughter, Kylee Gamache of Greenfield, MA.
He was also the youngest and last survivor of his five brothers and sisters.
GAMACHE -- In Nashua, NH, April 29, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care - Greenbriar, Augustine J. "Gus" Gamache, 85, of Pelham, NH, husband of the late Patricia A. (Burgandine) Gamache. Friends may call at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday. His Funeral will take place from the Funeral Home Monday morning at 9 o'clock followed by a Funeral Mass at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in PELHAM at 10 o'clock. Committal Services will be private.
