Charles J. Poswiata
of Lowell, Army Vet; 80

LOWELL -- Charles J. Poswiata, 80, of Lowell, MA, passed away at home peacefully on May 9th, 2013 in his sleep.

Charles was born in Lowell to Walter and Mary (Zajdel) Poswiata on October 27th, 1932. He was educated in Lowell before enlisting in the US Army, where he served during the Korean Conflict.

Upon returning from his service, he was employed at Courier Citizen Publishing Company until his retirement in 1993. He was an active member of the East End Social Club in Lowell. Charles also spent many years as a member of the Elks Club, and the Centralville Social Club of Lowell.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Patricia Guillemettte and her fiancé, Gary Marchant of Hudson NH. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Jacquelyn Guillemette and her fiancé, George Beer of Nashua, NH, and Jessica Guillemette and her fiancé, Michael Killilea of Kailua, HI. He is also survived by his grandson, Christopher Guillemette of Nashua, NH.

Additionally, he is survived by two sisters, Loretta Hood and her husband, Thomas of Lowell, MA, and Anna Mason of Dracut and her son, Leo Mason and his wife, Kathy of Lowell.

Charles is preceeded in death by both his parents, four brothers, John, Joseph, Frank and Chester, all of Lowell. He was also predeceased by a sister, Sophie Sousa also of Lowell.

Charles ("Charlie") was a kind and generous spirit who was well liked by all he met. He was a dedicated father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He led an independent life until his peaceful passing. He leaves many close friends in addition to his family and will be dearly missed.

POSWIATA -- Charles, 80, of Lowell. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Monday, May 13th at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, MA 01854. Funeral Tuesday Morning with a Prayer Service to be held at 10 o'clock am at the Funeral Home. Graveside services with Military Honors to follow at Holy Trinity Polish Cemetery in Lowell.
