of Dracut, master stone cutter; WWll Vet; 88

DRACUT, MA -- Raymond J. Maille, 88, passed away June 11th, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Rose (Gazda) Maille with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

Raymond was born in Lowell on February 5, 1925, one of 10 children born to the late Corrine (Lavoie) and Hector Maille. He received his education in the Lowell school system and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in order to defend his country in WWII. He proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the Tank Brigade until his honorable discharge.

After the war, Raymond became a Master Stone Cutter working for H.E. Fletcher & Co. for more than 50 years. He took great pride in his work and carved monuments all over the United States, which stand as a testament to his great skill in his craft.

Raymond loved music and dancing, and was always the life of the party. In his younger days he was known to be a talented banjo player and for cutting a rug with his wife, Rose. He was an avid New England sports fan, and especially loved the Red Sox.

In addition to his wife, Rose, he his survived by his sons, Jeffrey R. Maille and his wife, Sharon, and James M. Maille and his wife, Robin, all of Dracut; four grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Rebecca of Dracut, Stacy Wilson and her husband, Edward of Townsend, Justin Maille of Dracut, and Ian Maille and his wife, BongSina and family of Dracut; and step-granddaughter, Julie Tamblyn of Dracut; six great-grandchildren, Morgan Rose Wilson, Madison Wilson, Taylor Maille, Matthew Maille, Michael Maille, and Logan Ralls; his siblings, Gloria Morrisette and Roger Maille, both of Lowell, Robert Maille of Dracut, and Dewey Maille of Salem, NH; his sister-in-law, Sophie Thibault of Lowell; as well as many nieces and nephews.

MAILLE -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on FRIDAY, June 14th at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His funeral will take place from the funeral home at 8 a.m. on SATURDAY with his Funeral Mass to follow at 9 a.m. at Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Church in Dracut. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lowell.
