Eleanor G. Corey Active Member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church -- TEWKSBURY -- Eleanor G. (Newcomber) Corey, age 81, a resident of Tewksbury for 45 years, passed away at the Westford House on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Raymond J. Corey, who passed away on January 19, 2000. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Harold Newcomber and the late Henrietta (Snyder) Newcomber. Eleanor was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from the local high school. Following graduation, she attended business school, where she majored in Accounting. Eleanor resided in Doylestown, PA until moving to Tewksbury in 1968. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an Accountant by the Textron Company in Wilmington, where she worked for 20 years. Eleanor was a longtime active member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church, where she served on numerous boards and committees including the Ladies Aid, the Finance Committee, and the Church Fair. In addition, Eleanor was a member of the Tewksbury Arts Council, the Cultural Council, and the Patriotic Activities Committee. She also served in various capacities in support of the Tewksbury Public Library. An accomplished embroiderer, Eleanor taught embroidery at the Tewksbury Senior Center and was a member of the Tewksbury Embroiderer's Guild. She is survived by one son, Raymond J. Corey, II and his partner, Henry Chang of Jackson Heights, NY; one sister, Bertha Newcomber of Pennsylvania; also numerous extended family members and friends. COREY -- Eleanor G. (Newcomber).
