Edward J. Galvin Jr. of Ayer; 81 -- AYER -- Edward J. Galvin Jr., 81, of Ayer died Monday, July 15, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Galvin was born in Boston on August, 4 1931 a son of the late Edward J. and Anna (Strakowsky) Galvin Sr. and has resided in Ayer for the past year. He previously lived in Colorado and Oregon. He is survived by his wife of twenty five years Sondra L. Galvin, his former wife, Maria (Fadul) Galvin of Ayer, one son and daughter-in-law, Edward J. and Cheryl Galvin III of Fitchburg, daughter and son-in-law, William and Maria M. Bergmann of Ayer, daughter, Jean D. Galvin of Ayer, one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Kathy Galvin of Maynard, one sister and brother-in- law, Katherine and John Mockus of Marlboro, six grandchildren, John Koukias, Nikki Galvin, Elizabeth Jones and her husband Davey of Germany, Robert Galvin, Edward Galvin, two great-grandchildren, Hailey Jones and Caleb Jones and his most faithful friend, his dog "Buddy". He was the father of the late Arlene M. Galvin who died in December of 2006, brother of the late James Galvin, and brother-in-law of the late Patricia Galvin. Mr. Galvin served in the US ARMY for over twenty years retiring in 1968 at the rank of Master Sergeant. After his retirement from the service he also retired from the United States Postal Service. After retirement, he worked at Wal Mart in Colorado as a greeter. He also volunteered for the Jerry Lewis M.S. Program in Oregon. GALVIN -- A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 Thursday at St. Leo's Church, 108 Main St., Leominster. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bishop Rd., Ayer. A visitation period will be held from 9:00 -- 10:30 prior to the mass at the Isabelle and Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg. -- Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.
