BENSON, NC -- Walter Earl Ahern, 78, of Benson, NC, passed away at his daughter and son-in-law's home in Morrisville, NC, on July 12, 2013.
Walter was born in Boston, Massachusetts, grew up in Arlington, and later moved to North Chelmsford where he spent most of his life. He moved to North Carolina in 2007.
He was proud to have served in the Construction Battalion of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sheri Ahern Burnsed, and her husband, Greg Burnsed, of Morrisville, NC, and Heather Ahern, and her husband, Phil Martin, residing in Providence RI. He is also survived by his siblings, Cornelia Markham of Framingham, MA, William Ahern and his wife, Lorraine of Belmont, MA, Howard Ahern and his wife, Marge, of Puerto Rico; many nieces and nephews, a granddaughter; four step-grandsons, and four great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind many dear friends in Massachusetts and North Carolina.
