N. CHELMSFORD -- Joseph T. Panessiti, of N. Chelmsford, MA, died Friday, October 25, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital.

He was married to Mary G. (Copley) Panessiti with whom he celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 7, 2013.

Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Tendaro and Maria Panessiti. He graduated from Chelmsford High in 1942, and from Suffolk University with a B.S. in Accounting.

He proudly served with the U.S. Army Air Corp in India as a cryptographer during WWII.

Joseph retired in 1986, after 35 years from General Foods of Woburn, MA.

He was a member of D.A.V. of Boston, MA.

Joseph enjoyed working on cars. He was a lifelong resident of N. Chelmsford, and the last of his family of 10 brothers and sisters.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Panessiti of N. Chelmsford, MA, and Edward R. and his wife Debra Panessiti of Barnstead, NH; one sister-in-law, Patricia Panessiti of Billerica, MA; and two grandchildren, Micaella Panessiti and Anthony J. Panessiti; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Nunizo Panessiti, Samuel Panessiti, Lena Yovinello, Frances LaRoche and others.
