U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II
HUDSON, NH -- Glenn A. Tennis, of Hudson, NH, died unexpectedly on November 2, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital, aged 85 years.
He was the beloved husband of Eileen W. (Merrill) Tennis, with whom he would have celebrated 48 years of marriage on December 4th.
Born in Inkster, Michigan, September 3, 1928, a son of the late Glenn O. and Mabel E. (Karschnick) Tennis. He received his early education in the Inkster school system and graduated from the Henry Ford Trade School in Dearborn.
Mr. Tennis enlisted in the U. S. Navy on September 25, 1945, serving as Aviation Storekeeper Second Class, until his honorable discharge on April 6, 1950. He was a member of the Naval Choir, and also received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Quality Control Manager at the former Fast Fax Company of Nashua.
Mr. Tennis was a devout, active member of the Centralville United Methodist Church in Lowell, where he served on the Worship and Staff Parish Committees.
Never one to sit still, Glenn enjoyed photography, woodworking, cooking, gardening, Bible studies and ceramics. Most of all, he enjoyed precious time with his family, especially spending summers together at Prince Edward Island.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gary E. Tennis and his wife, Diane of Pelham, NH, Dale A. Tennis and his wife, Lynda of Hudson, NH, and Kerry B. Tennis and his wife, Chelli of Nottingham, NH; 10 grandchildren, Kristen Goocher, Jason Tennis, Shawn Tennis, Chad Tennis, Jonathan Tennis, Jeremy Tennis, Heather Bradford, Jessica Bradford, Jonathan Bradford, and Joshua Tennis; also, eight great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ralph Merrill and his wife, Cheryl of Litchfield, NH, and a sister-in-law, Blanche Merrill of Chelmsford; his dear friends, Bob Goocher of Marlborough, MA, Evelyn Bell of Kensington, P.E.I., and Henry Sykes of Lowell. He was the great-grandfather of the late Cassandra Goocher, and brother-in-law of the late Clifford Merrill Jr. and Charles Merrill.
