Beloved husband, father, and grandfather

OCALA, Fla. -- Dan Lindley Roberts, 77, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Tewksbury, Lowell and Billerica, passed away on November 21, 2013, at his home in Florida.

Born in Tewksbury, MA on September 6, 1936, he was a son of the late Walter and Elizabeth Stacey Roberts Rix. Dan attended school in Tewksbury, and was an Army Veteran.

Prior to his retirement, Dan worked for many years as a Truck Driver with the Watkins Motor Lines.

Growing up, Dan's children remember their father as a race car driver at the Hudson Speedway in Hudson, NH and taking long Sunday drives together in the family car.

Dan is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Roberts of Ocala, Fla.; his children, William McCarthy and his wife, Sandi of Chelmsford, Joseph McCarthy and his wife, Lori of VT, Cheryl Spurlock and her spouse, Linda of NH, Alvah Roberts of NH, Helena Bradley and her husband, George of Lowell, Dan Roberts, Jr. and Erin Sloan of Fla., Ann Marie Denopoulos and her husband, Chris of Billerica, Mary Lou Carroll and her husband, Steve of Lowell, Ralph Biron of Dracut, and Carol Fogel of Fla. Dan also leaves 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Betty Lou Bousquet, Nancy Mulligan, Linda Campbell; a brother, Paul Rix; and his aunt, Frances Chadwick. He also leaves his dear friends, Gary and Carlos.

Dan was the former husband of Lois Roberts and the husband of the late Theresa Roberts. Dan was also the brother of the late Walter "Bud" Roberts, Dorothy Gilbert, Douglas Roberts, and Carl Roberts.

ROBERTS -- It being Dan's wish, cremation took place in Florida and his graveside funeral service with military honors will take place on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 11 AM at Florida National Cemetery. ARRANGEMENTS BY THE FAY McCABE FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 978-459-9222 www.faymccabe.com
