Roland F. Monty
of Dracut; 83

DRACUT -- Roland F. Monty 83, died Tuesday, December 24 at Fairhaven Health Care Center in Lowell, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Annette M. (Briere) Monty with whom he shared 61 years of marriage on November 29th.

Roland was born in Lowell on June 7, 1930 he was the son of the late Arthur and Antoinette (Chaput) Monty. He was drafted into the Army, and as a result, he volunteered to join the marines where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954 achieving the rank of CPL.

After his service he worked numerous jobs to support his young family (working as many as 3 at a time) before joining Polaroid where he was employed as a mechanic specialist for 25 years.

In his free time Roland honed his many skills such as photography, woodworking, finish carpentry, masonry, and was a great all around problem solver to anyone who needed help or advice. Some of his favorite hobbies included passing on his many skills to his grandchildren, playing the piano and ballroom dancing for which he won several medals. Roland enjoyed living on "his" lake where he rescued many a boater in distress. Throughout his life he had a deep love and respect for all nature and wildlife.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, David Monty of Windham, NH, Noreen Judd of Laconia, NH Karen Clougher and her husband Tom of Tyngsboro, and Nancy Wilson and her husband Gary of New Ipswich, NH; his sister Jackie Cloutier of Lowell; nine grandchildren, Stacey and Justin Monty, Kimberly and Christopher McManus, Douglas, Kenneth, Zachary and Victoria Clougher, and Evan Boucher; his two great-grandsons Kyle and Evan as well as many nieces and nephews.

Roland is predeceased by his sisters, Terry Bernier and Dot McDougal, and his brothers, Normand, Bob, Donald, Ray and his twin brother, Paul Monty.

MONTY -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on Monday, December 30th from 8:30 AM until 10:15 AM. His funeral procession will be held from the funeral home at 10:15 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Marguerite Parish/St. Theresa Church in Dracut at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Gibson Cemetery, Pelham, NH. As an expression of sympathy those who wish may make donations to Fairhaven Health Care Center, 476 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
