LOWELL -- Gerard J. Dupre, 94, of Lowell, died Thursday, January 23, 2014, at D'Youville Senior Care Center. He was born on June 6, 1919 and was the son of the late Firmin and the late Delia Dupre. He was a graduate of Notre Dame de Lourdes grammar school and Lowell High School.
In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in World War II as a Combat Engineer, taking part in the D-day invasion. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
He worked in the Navy Yard in Portsmouth, NH, the Glenn L. Martin Company in Baltimore, MD, and Orlando, FL, and The Pentagon in Washington, DC.
At retirement, he returned to Lowell and was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was the brother of the late Therese Tremblay, Beatrice Houle, Cecile Ayotte, and Henry Dupre.
His family would like to extend their thanks to all those special people who cared for him at Tewksbury State Hospital and D'Youville Senior Care Center.
