James C. Jendro
of Canton, Ohio, WWll Vet; 92

CANTON, Ohio -- James Cyril Jendro, of Canton, Ohio, 92, passed away on February 7, 2014, at the Canton, Ohio home of his daughter.

He was born August 21st, 1921 in Rivesville, WV, the son of Beulah Catherine (West) Jendro and Roman Mack Jendro. He married Mabel Velma Lester on May 4, 1942, in Portsmouth, VA.

He is survived by his son, James Lester Jendro and wife, LouAnn of Dracut, MA; by his daughter, Charlene Patricia Jendro of Canton, Ohio; by grandchildren, James Neil Jendro and wife, Kendra of Dracut, MA, Elizabeth Ann (Jendro) Noel and husband, Brian of Lowell, MA, Kevin Sigler and his fiancée, Tracy Smith of Canton, Ohio, and Melissa Kate (Sigler) Beggs and husband, Joseph of Fort Worth, TX; by great-grandchildren, Ciera Sigler of Canton, Ohio, Abigail Yvonne Noel of Lowell, MA, McCartney Elizabeth, Samuel Robert and Isley Anne Beggs of Fort Worth, TX, Maddox James Jendro of Dracut, MA and Ayra Sigler of Canton, Ohio; and by many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Maxine Eleanor (Jendro) Marsh.

Mr. Jendro served his country by helping build the USS Alabama (BB60) as a pipe fitter at Portsmouth, VA, and then serving with the Army Air Force during WWII in the Pacific Theater as a Sergeant with the 29th Bomb Group, 6th Squadron. He was a longtime employee of Republic Steel in Canton and Lorain, Ohio, and an avid Amateur Radio operator.

Mr. Jendro was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cared greatly for all his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, and telling tall stories. He, and his stories, will be sorely missed.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.
