Edgar F. Heselbarth Jr.
of Cotuit, formerly of Paxton

COTUIT -- Edgar Fox Heselbarth Jr., 88, of Cotuit, MA, formerly of Paxton, MA, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Mr. Heselbarth proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, earning a Bronze Battle Star and the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon. He was a graduate of the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel/Restaurant Management in 1950 and of Worcester State with a Masters in Education in 1971.

Most recently, Mr. Heselbarth worked as the Director of Financial Aid for Worcester Polytechnic Institute, retiring in 1986. He was a charter member of the Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, providing leadership in educating and disseminating information about complex and evolving federal and state higher-education funding programs.

Mr. Heselbarth was a 64-year member of the Masons. He was also a Shriner. He was an avid reader and enjoyed a variety of music. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing stories in the company of his family and friends. He was affiliated with the Cotuit Federated Church.

He is survived by one son, Edgar F. III and his wife, Kathryn Heselbarth of Dover, NH; one daughter, Ruth Anne Heselbarth of N. Chelmsford, MA; one granddaughter, Heidi Novack of N. Chelmsford, MA; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; one nephew, and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar F. Sr. and Eleanor Heselbarth of Pittsburgh, PA; his brother, Thomas P. Heselbarth of Pittsburgh, PA, and his loving wife, Thelma G. Heselbarth.

HESELBARTH -- A private Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Donations in his name may be made to the Mariners Lodge of Cotuit-Angel Fund, P.O.
