CHELMSFORD -- Jane M. (Smith) (Gilbride) (Ealy) Nickles, 69, of Chelmsford, MA entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 14, 2014, at her home.
She was the beloved wife of William E. Nickles with whom she would have celebrated their 19th anniversary on April 17, 2014.
She was born in Lowell on Oct. 12, 1944, the daughter of the late Prescott D. Smith and Alice R. (Ducharme) (Smith) Sullivan of Chelmsford. She was a graduate of Chelmsford High School with the class of 1962. She was a resident of Chelmsford most of her life. She was out-of-state resident for 10 years.
Jane was employed at Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford MA as an Executive Secretary from Nov. 1962 until May 1968. Three months during that time, she worked at the VA Hospital in Bedford, MA as a Medical Secretary. After moving to Washington DC, she worked at the Navy Ship Yard as an Administrative Assistant from May 1968 to Jan. 1969. She returned to Hanscom AFB as an Administrative Assistant in August 1979 until she retired in May 2003.
She was a member of the A.W. Vinal Post #313 Auxiliary in North Chelmsford, the B.P.O.E. 2310 in Chelmsford, NARFE, and the Chelmsford High School Alumni Association.
Jane enjoyed Foxwoods, animals, and sewing.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Paul and his wife, Heidi Ealy of Franklin, NH; one daughter, Dawn Ealy-Regan of AZ; two grandsons, Nathaniel Ealy and Samuel Regan, both of AZ; dear aunt, Avis Ducharme of Chelmsford; very best friend, "Brandi"; one step brother, Bradley Nickles of Mims, FL; four step children; 12 step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren and many cousins.
