Grace, Richard  
Richard A. Grace Richard Allan Grace (Dick) passed away on January 19, 2015 at the age of 88.  He was born in Carson City, Michigan on November 25, 1926 and was a long time resident of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Elsie and his son Douglas. Dick is lovingly remembered by children, Dean Grace (Kathy) of Williamston, Sandra Johnson of Holt and Paulette Grace of Jacksonville, FL.  Daughter in law Janene Grace and special friend and caregiver Cheryl Spalding.   8 grandchildren, Baylee and Ashlee Grace, Kelsey, August (Gus) and Max Grace, Lucy and Jake Johnson and Laina Grace; Sister, Patricia Magee of Ludington and many nieces, nephews and friends. Dick's career in banking spanned 33 years at Michigan National Bank, serving in many capacities including VP of Commercial Loans and VP of the Mortgage Department. Dick served as a Director for United Way and the Civitan Club of Lansing.  He was a member of the Greater Lansing Chamber of Commerce, Mortgage Banks Association of America, Lansing Home builders Association and the Society of Real Estate Appraisers of Lansing.  Most recently he served as a Trustee for Woldumar Endowment Charitable Trust.  He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines. Dick enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and boating.  He and Elsie traveled and enjoyed many wonderful trips in the US and Europe.  However, his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and grandchildren.  He was a loving husband and father and proud grandfather. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Stoneleigh Residence Hospice for the incredible care that he was given over the last 7 months. Funeral Mass is 10:30 AM Saturday January 24, 2015 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing, with Fr. John P. Klein officiating. Visitation will be at the church just prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Visitation will be held Friday, January 23 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit the guest book at www.tiffanyfuneralhome.com .

Halfmann, James  
James Frederick "Minnow" Halfmann Fowler James Frederick "Minnow" Halfmann, age 67, passed away on January 22, 2015.  Born in Fowler, MI, December 5, 1947 the son of Alfred Sr. and Seraphine (Noeker) Halfmann, he lived most of his life in the Fowler area.  He was a member of Most Holy Trinity Church and the Knights of Columbus.  Jim served in the United States Army and was a life member of VFW Post #3733 (Past Commander) and was a member of the 716th Military Police during the Vietnam War. Jim retired from GM after 30 years of service.  On August 12, 1983 he married Carol Ann Van Eck in Fowler, MI.  Throughout his life Minnow loved his faith, family, friends, farming, hunting, history, playing cards and black and white films.  His wisdom and always positive outlook on life will be deeply missed.  He is survived by his wife Carol and sons, Matthew Christopher Halfmann, David Anthony Berry (Carrie), Christopher Robert Berry (Traci) and grandchildren, Dakota, Kylee and Marley, sister, Anne (Larry) Pohl, brothers, Alfred Halfmann, Charlie (Marilyn) Halfmann, Bob (Donna) Halfmann, sisters in law, Sharon Halfmann, Bobbie Van Eck and Wretha Van Eck, brother in law, Phil Bennett and mother in law De louise Van Eck.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kenneth, sister, Marilyn (Don) Fedewa, sisters in law, Joyce and Gladys Halfmann, brothers in law, John and Richard Van Eck, sister in law, Theresa Lorraine Bennett , and father in law, Robert Eugene Van Eck. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding, burial to follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday with a rosary prayed at 3 and a vigil service at 7 at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler. Military Services provided by VFW Post #3733.   Contributions may be made in memory of James to VFW Post #3733 or Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
