Arlin Junior "AJ" Parks

Arlin Junior "AJ" Parks Age 78, joined his beloved wife, Carolyn on December 23, 2013. He was born September 8, 1935, the son of Arlin and Lillian (Retzloff) Parks. AJ was the last surviving of 10 children. AJ spent his life in the Lansing area, attending Lansing Eastern High School, class of 1953, and was employed by GM for over 30 years. Predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn, daughter, Judy and grandson, Sammy, AJ is survived by daughters, Jill (Bernie) Montoya, Joseph City, AZ, Jan (Howard) Noppe, Spring Arbor, MI; son, James (Tammy) Parks, Holt, MI; grandchildren, Karilynn, Kylie and Kaytlin Noppe, Tim Montoya and Brayden Parks. AJ was a fixture in the Holt community. He was instrumental in developing the Delhi Flag Football League, and created the Lansing area Methodist Cluster Youth Basketball League. He coached many of his children's sports teams and was actively involved in the Holt Athletic Booster Club. AJ was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lansing. He was a very outgoing and friendly person. Upon retirement, he resided at their Muskegon River banks cottage where he enjoyed reading, playing cards, watching TV, attending baseball games, shopping at SAM's Club, and interacting with nearly every person he came into contact with. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
