Donald Erwin Casterline

Donald Erwin Casterline Born on December 11, 1939 in Battle Creek, and he passed away on March 13, 2013 in Lansing. Don was a graduate of Battle Creek Central H.S. and Michigan State University. he worked many jobs throughout his life, including newspaper carrier, copywriter, grave digger, advertising executive, second grade teacher and tennis coach. He retired from the State of Michigan Public Service Commission after thirty years. Don believed in starting each day with a diet soda and the New York Times. He had a great wit, and he loved people. He engaged everyone he met through the day in lively conversation. He love gardening and playing tennis, and he cheerfully accompanied his wife, Mary, on travels to many places. Donald is survived by his spouse, Mary Schoemehl. He is also survived by his children: Michael (Heather Blair) of Asheville, NC; Margaret Casterline of Boston, MA; Brian (Kathleen) of Farmington; Karenmary Melendez of Pago Pago, American Samoa; and Amy Casterline (Kelly Dewar) of West Palm Beach, FL. Granchildren include Zosia Casterline, Quillan Hunt and Nora Casterline. Don is also survived by his siblings: William; Deborah Rigby (George); Thomas (LuAnn); Susan Ciotti (Phil); and Willard.
