Ethel Rose Ellis, born March 8, 1929 to Marshall Sherman and Daisy Mae (Retzloff) Pennell, passed away May 5, 2014.  She was a homemaker, devoted to her family.  Ethel liked to embroider and was an avid reader. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Ellis; daughter, Linda Mae Williams; and sisters, Marcia and Florence.  Surviving to cherish her memory are  daughters, Diana (James) Johnson of St. Johns, Karen (Dave) Leisman of St. Johns, and Cherri MacMillian of Ionia; son, Clive (Melody) Ellis of DeWitt; grandchildren, Lynn, Cheryle, Michael, Amy, Corbin, Miranda, Clayton, Malorie, Jeni, Nathan, Cathleen, Guy and Anne; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and brother, Kenneth (Ann) Pennell of Florida. 

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 9, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington in DeWitt.  Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.  The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel.
