Gary Lee Whiting, 79, passed away July 1, 2014.  He was born in Windsor Township, Michigan on June 20, 1935 to Frank and Margaret Whiting.

Gary loved to travel in his fifth wheel and had the opportunity to visit many states.  He loved New Mexico and commented many times of returning there. He retired from Oldsmobile after 34 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 652. He was also a member of the Oldsmobile Outdoor Club and the Eagles and Moose Clubs.  In his earlier days he was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman.  After retirement he moved to Falmouth west of Houghton Lake and then to Frederic. He loved the "Up North" of Michigan.  Gary had a unique personality and sense of humor.  He eventually returned to Dimondale to be closer to his family. Gary was preceded in death by his wife Mable ("Corky"); father, Frank; mother, Margaret; infant brother; and sisters, Shirley Brinkley and Marjorie Wardell.  Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters Gail Whiting (Larry Miesner), Linda Whiting, Carol Wood (Steven) and sons Steve Whiting (Dee) and David Whiting (Cheryl); and grandchildren Katie Jo Baughman, Dustin Baughman and Jeremy Wood. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 162 N. Bridge Street, Dimondale, Michigan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2.
