Gerald L. "Jerry" Akright

Gerald L. "Jerry" Akright Holt Passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at age 83. Born July 21, 1930 to Louis and Hazel Akright in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Jerry married Wilma (Bell) Akright on September 16, 1950 at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt. Jerry honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant where he worked as a Production Engineer. Jerry was a Troop Leader for the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Explorers. He was a member of the Fisher Body Salary Retirees Club, the Kiwanis Club of Holt, and the First Presbyterian Church of Holt where he was also an Elder and a Deacon. Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He was very well liked and will be dearly missed. Preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving are his wife, Wilma Akright; daughters, Pam (David) Rectenwaldt, Jayna Akright; son, Steven Akright; grandchildren, Yesenia Akright, Steven (Renae) Akright, Shawn (Jen Fisher) Adams; great-grandchildren, Max Akright, Sam Akright; brother, Duane "Tom" (Marilyn) Akright as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends. Memorial services will be held at noon on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt. Family will receive friends on Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the church.
