Helen Andrews (Spagnuolo) Block, 82, of Lansing, passed away peacefully on March 27.

A rosary at 10:30 AM followed by mass at 11:00 AM will be held on Tuesday, April 1, with a reception luncheon following at St. Therese Catholic Church, 102 West Randolph Ave., Lansing.

Helen was born in Lansing to John and Agnes Cosgrove on January 23, 1932. She married George Spagnuolo on September 7, 1950, in Lansing. Helen retired as executive director of the Lansing Arthritis Foundation in 1993 and received national recognition for her fundraising endeavors.

We have lost a beautiful woman. She fought long and hard until the very end. We have loved you as a wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister and friend. Thank you for being the reason we have such a beautiful, crazy and fun loving family. Without you, none of us would be here, so until we meet again, "We love you".

Helen was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Agnes Cosgrove and brothers, John and Richard. She is survived by her husband of twelve years, Roger Block; son, Michael (and Kim) Spagnuolo; daughters, Joan Spagnuolo, Kathy (and Ernie) Schmidtchen, Nancy (and Al) Wile; sister, Mary Ryan; 34 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God in Him I will trust. -Ps. 91:2
