Helen Margaret Crafton

Helen Margaret Crafton Lansing The gates of heaven opened this week to welcome home an extraordinary woman. Helen Margaret (Minich) Crafton was born on May 29, 1915. She died on February 28, 2014 at the age of 98. Helen married Allen B. Crafton in 1936 and together they raised 11 children. Most of Helen's life was spent as a care giver; she loved her career as a geriatric nurse and was still delivering "Meals on Wheels" to senior citizens well into her eighties. She leaves with her family a strong example of one who placed her faith in God, who loved her family without question and who offered compassion and care to those who were in need. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen; sons, Thomas and James Crafton; grandson, Dan Radigan; and son-in-law, Nelson Westrin. Left to cherish many memories are nine children: Kay (Mike) O'Meara, Judy (Dave) Moody, Barbara (Mike) Radigan, Sr. Nancy Crafton, S.C., John (MaryLu) Crafton, Mary Jo (Gale) Gillilland, Carole Westrin, Jeanne (Tom) Pettengill, Kristine (David) Glew; 29 loving grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at St. Mary Cathedral with Msgrs. George C. Michalek and Bernard Reilly presiding. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, Michigan. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM.
