Ida May Fleming

Ida May Fleming Lansing Loving wife of 56 years to the late Robert Fleming. Caring mother to Judith (Lauren) (Fleming) Higgins and Dennis (Nancy) Fleming; loving grandmother to David (Joan) Jones, Dion (Debra) Jones and Heidi (Dave) Zens; great grandmother to the Jones children, Nathan, Katelyn, Danielle, Emily, Jessica; and the Zens children, Brandi Lee and Jasmine; sister to Maxine (Don) Jubb. Ida was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her sister Elsie (Ron) Burkholder. She also leaves behind many loving friends with special remembrances of Barb Espie and Donna Schalla. Ida was the daughter of Milo and Elsie Warner and was born in Lansing on September 17, 1927, and passed away at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan on September 28, 2012 at the age of 85. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School and was a charter member of St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church. She retired from the State of Michigan (Licensing and Regulation Board of Nursing) and in previous employment worked for the Highway Department, Social Services, Education and Disability Determination. She also had many years of banking experience and did volunteer work for Sparrow Hospital, ELCA Synod and St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ida and Bob were lifelong residents of Lansing and for 21 years they wintered in Mesa, Arizona until his passing in 2003. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., on October 8, 2012 at St. Stephan Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2900 N. Waverly Rd., Lansing, MI. There will be no visitation prior to the service and no luncheon following the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions in memory of Ida May to St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2900 N. Waverly Rd., Lansing, MI 48906, or to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, PO Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes.
