Joan Guthrie Kollins


Joan died on June 27, 2014 in Lansing, MI and was born to Rudy and Florence Neumann on November 23, 1932 in Bridgeport, MI.  She graduated from Chesaning High School in 1949 and became an x-ray technician at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI.  After living in New York, Venezuela, and Northern Ontario, she went back to school and became a registered nurse, retiring after 20 years from Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.  Joan enjoyed golf and travel when her health permitted, reading, and playing cards.  She was a long-time volunteer for Hospice of Mid-Michigan. 

Preceded in death by her husband, Alexander; brothers, Clarence and his wife, MaryLee, of North Carolina and Wilfred and his wife, Verna, of Chesaning, MI.  Surviving are her sons, Steve (Dawn) Guthrie of Fairfield, OH, Kevin (Pam) Guthrie of Whitmore Lake, MI, and Bruce Guthrie of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren, Evann, Lauren, Mariah, and Nathan; great-grandchild, Zoe Elena; and the father of her sons, Glenn Guthrie. 

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Coral Gables Restaurant, 2838 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823.  Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, P. O. Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909; Planned Parenthood, 300 N.
