Leon "Buddy" Louis Pung


Age 74, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2014.  He was born on November 23, 1939 in Portland, MI the son of Leon P. and Pauline (Gross) Pung. Mr. Pung was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, was a life long farmer, and worked for the Lansing School District for 47 years.  Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, polka music, and taking walks on his property.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Brenda; parents, Leon and Pauline Pung; in-laws, Leon and Mary Spitzley; brother, Donald; brother-in-law, Eugene Gross.  Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Pung; children, Angela (Michael) Schrauben, and Jason (Rachel) Pung; grandchildren, Courtney and Katelyn Schrauben, Casey, Zachary, Noah, and Leona Pung; siblings, Thomas (Rosemary) Pung, Robert (Bernie) Pung, Ann (Gerald) Kloeckner, Joan (Anthony) Hradecky, Richard (Ann) Pung, John (Kathy) Pung, and Ken (Carrie) Pung; sister-in-law, Barb (Richard) Trierweiler; many sisters and brothers-in-law. 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated by Rev. Larry King and Rev. Denis Spitzley at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland.  Rite of Committal will take place at a later date in Portland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.  Rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday and 3 p.m. Monday, and a Scriptural Wake Service held at 8 p.m. on Monday.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Divine Word Missionaries, in memory of Leon.  On line condolences may be made at http://www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com/.
