Paul F. Henning Paul F. Henning crossed the Jordan on Thursday, April 10, 14 at 6:46 am in Holt, MI. He was born May 8, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio, the only child of George F. and Irene (Rock) Henning. He grew up in Columbus and graduated in 1944 from Upper Arlington High School. Paul served in the US Navy
aboard a Destroyer screening for the carriers in the third and tenth fleets in the South Pacific. On June 23, 1951, he married the love of his life, Jean Hoelscher of Findlay, Ohio. A 1950 graduate of The Ohio State University
, he went on to work as a coach in the public schools of Canton Ohio and also managed and operated grain elevators in northwestern Ohio. He moved to Tecumseh, Michigan in 1961 to sell livestock, pet and laboratory animal diets. In 1968, he began working as a teacher at the Adrian Girl's Training School for the State of Michigan. He received his Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan in Special Education with a emphasis in emotionally disturbed students and continued teaching for 20 years. Paul took over the management of The Henning Farms in Northwest Ohio in 1973, and continued operating them until his death. Mr. Ted Durre was his faithful and loyal farming partner who Paul considered his brother. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh for 53 years, where he served as an Elder and a Deacon, sang in the St Andrews Choir, and was responsible for the administering of The Bethel Series Bible studies to the congregation. In 2013, he became a charter member of Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. Paul sang in the Civic Auditorium Pop Concerts at Christmas and Easter for more than 10 years. He enjoyed his involvement in fundraising for the new Tecumseh Arts Center, singing and dancing in a variety of shows. Paul enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to fly a Piper at Meyers Airport, play golf and all sports, as well as farming, hunting, fishing and gardening. Paul is survived by children: David Henning of Memphis, TN, Barbara Jean (Henning) and Paul Toman of Lansing, MI, Carol Louise (Henning) and William Rowley of Clayton, MI. Five grandchildren: Sarah Jean (Toman) and Jason Kong of Columbus OH, Elizabeth Jean Henning Toman of Madison WI, Stephan and Kristina Henning of Huntsville AL, Jacob and Amy (Calego) Toman of St Louis MI, and Sonya Wenz (Henning) and Tanner Edwards of Talladega AL. One Great Granddaugther: Alethea Rose Toman. Brother and Sister in laws: Wallace and Jvanne (Henry) Hoelscher of Oak Park Heights MN, nieces Deena (Hoelscher) and Peter Spitalnk, Della (Hoelscher) and Randy Mariorina, nephew Hank and Lisa Hoelscher. Cousins George Henning III, William Henning Jr, and Billy Rock. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Uncle William Henning and Aunt Harriet Harry of College Station, PA, Uncle Harold and Aunt Cora Rock of Sherwood OH, brother and sister in laws Red and Joan Hoelscher of Memphis TN, and niece J. Lynn Hoelscher of Mililani, HI. A Memorial Service will be held on April 25 at 7 pm at River Terrace, 1509 River Terrace, East Lansing, MI. Visitation with the family will occur one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood Ohio on June 21, 2014.
