Paul Richards Edwards

Paul Richard Edwards Age 80, passed away Nov. 23, 2013 from injuries sustained during an accident at his home. Paul was born Oct. 6, 1933, about an eighth of a mile south of his farm where he spent 55 years, the seventh of ten children of the late Earl and Lila Edwards. Graduating from Grand Ledge H.S., Paul married his high school sweetheart, the late Carol Lawless in 1956. After Paul served in the Army, the couple started the Dairy Farm. They had 4 children. In 1970, Paul married Alice Harmon-Wright and they then merged their blended family. Paul wore many hats over the years: long time dairy farmer, 4H leader and board member over 20 years, advocate for Oneida Township, serving as supervisor for 20 years, assessor for 28 years and board of review. Paul was a member of St. Michael Church and loved his large extended family along with his flower gardening and lawn care. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Alice; their children, Mike Edwards of Perry, Rochelle (Gary) Warner of Portland, Tamara (Russell) Barringer of Portland, Diane Edwards (friend Steve Botek) of Waverly, David (Connie) Edwards of Grand Ledge, Darcy (David) Carpenter of Grand Ledge, Angela Wright of Charlotte and Jennifer Edwards-Driver of Mulliken; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Marge Collins of Belleville, MI, Gerald (Fay) Edwards of Sunset, TX, Gayle Edwards of Natchez, MS, James (Audrey) Edwards of Templeton, CA. Preceding him in death are son, Thomas Edwards; grandson, Travis Edwards; siblings, Leo Edwards, Joyce Lott, Josephine Edwards and Wilma Salvatore. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 by Rev. Fr. James Eisele at St. Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8p.m. at Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home Grand Ledge. Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care or 4H.
