Randall Alan Ott
Age 70, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, after a brief but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Randall was born on January 24, 1944 in Lansing, MI, to Robert J. and Vivian M. Ott who preceded him. Randall attended Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, where he excelled in basketball and tennis, graduating in 1962.
Randall attended Lansing Community College and studied Criminal Justice until he was called upon to serve in the United States Army. Randall served our country from February 1966 to January 1968 in the US Army Cavalry in Neubruecke, Germany. Upon return from military service, Randall attended Michigan State University
and Mid-Michigan Police Academy. Upon completion he was hired by the Lansing Police Department in 1970. Randall proudly served and protected the residents and visitors of the City of Lansing as a Patrolman, Motor Officer and Traffic Accident Investigator / Reconstructionist, retiring in 1995 after 25 years of faithful service.
Randall is survived by his wife, Mary of Holt; son, Robert R. (Andrea) Ott of Holt; and daughter, Michelle Ott of Charlotte, MI. Randall is also survived by grandchildren Danielle, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Ava, Alan Ott of Holt and Jessica Ott of Charlotte. Randall is also survived by a step-son Adam Shelton of Jackson and step-daughter Kelli Shelton of Holt.
Randall's family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00PM on Sunday May 18, 2014 at the Palmer Bush Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Holt-Delhi Chapel, 5035 W. Holt Rd. Holt, MI. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Monday May 19, 2014 with Lansing Police Department Chaplain William Renfrew presiding at the funeral home.
