Richard D. Gray Born: October 19, 1930 in Montpelier, OH Died: June 19, 2013 in St. Augustine, FL Richard spent his youth in Detroit, Michigan and attended Southwestern High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy
and attended Electronics School at the Naval Air Station in Memphis, Tenn. His duty assignments included NAS Jacksonville and NAS Agana, Guam. Richard was honorably discharged as Third Class Petty Officer in Aviation Electronics. His naval electronics experience led to employment at IBM where he was employed for 38 years as a Customer Engineer. Richard was the recipient of four "IBM Means Service Awards." Richard was a Member of the City Council in Corunna, Michigan and enjoyed sports, both as a fan and as a participant. He coached youth football and baseball for then named Okemos Athletic Klub (OAKS). While living in St. Augustine, Richard enjoyed tennis, golf and was a member of the St. Augustine Duplicate Bridge Club. Richard is predeceased by his wife, Sarah Ann (Topping) Gray, son Richard Samuel Gray, and grandson Shane Pyon Gray. He is survived by his wife Carmen (Potter) Gray, son Shane E. Gray (Kyong), and daughters Karyn Gloden (Michael), Laurie McEldowney (Brad), Barbara Gray and Shannon Benton (Raymond) and daughter-in law, Sandy Gray; ten grandchildren, Michael Gloden (Holly), Leah Porter (Ryan), Rebecca East (fiancé Bret Milner), Kevin East, Robert Benton (Charlie), Erin, Ashley and Rachel Benton, Sara Gray, Richard S. Gray II; and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11 AM. A committal service will follow at Pine Tree Cemetery in Corunna. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of service.
