Richard Johnson

Richard Johnson It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Richard Johnson, age 65 on November 22nd 2012. He died peacefully near his home in Miami with his wife Tracy by his side. He was born in Detroit MI and moved to East Lansing to attend Michigan State University and was a 45 year long resident of East Lansing. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in business and economics. He then pursued a successful career in real estate investment, and went on to become known for his business empire of night clubs and restaurants. Truly a self made man in every sense of the word. He is preceded by his parents, Harold and Gertrude Johnson, and his siblings Bruce and Trudy Johnson. He leaves behind his wife Tracy, son Steve, grandson Max and first wife Jennifer. Also his many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and his friends/ partners. Rich had a passion for life, and it showed in his love of travel, the arts and music. Last but not least his beloved Spartans. Nothing would keep him away from his team, whether playing at home or away chances are you would see Rich there cheering them on, or sometimes yelling things at refs thinking they could hear him! There will be a celebration of life on January 17th from 2-4 at Beggar's Banquet East Lansing, MI In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Capital Area Humane Society Lansing, MI or Wharton Center for the Performing Arts East Lansing, MI. God saw that he was tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his hands around him and whispered "come with me" With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and fade away. Although we loved him dearly we would not ask him to stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
