William Joseph Germain Lansing William Joseph Germain (Bill) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2014. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on November 1, 1926 to Belgian immigrant parents. The family returned to Belgium in the 1930's during the Great Depression. He grew up in a small farming village in Belgium until 1951 when he and his wife moved to America to work for his cousin's family business, Victor Garmyn and Sons, from which he retired. His greatest joy in life came when he was surrounded by family and friends. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie-Louise (Maeckelbergh) Germain; his children, Vickie Churchill, Monique (Robert) Smith and Rick (Carrie) Germain; eight grandchildren, Neele and Mike Churchill, Shelby and Alexa Smith, Aaron (Megan) Germain, Amanda (Joshua) Shaw, Amelia Germain and Austin (Emily) Germain; one sister in Belgium, Clara Germain-DeWalle and sister-in-law, Beverly Germain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Achiel Germain and Madelena Haest-Germain; son, Patrick Germain; son-in-law, David Churchill; brother, Leon Germain. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish with Rev. Fr. John Fain as celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel and Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
