Edith Ethel Houghton Lansing Edith Ethel Houghton, age 95 of Lansing, MI passed away at Lansing Sparrow Hospital on Sunday April 1, 2012. Memorial services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Laingsburg on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jeff Howe will officiate with burial to follow at Rose Cemetery in Bath. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service. Edith was born in Bentley, MI on January 21, 1917, the daughter of Earl Profit & Lorena (Dodge) Spencer. She graduated from Owosso High School in 1936. She married Melvin Houghton on October 14, 1939 in Owosso, MI. He predeceased her October 21, 1982. Edith was a homemaker, raising her four children and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking and reading. She is survived by her children; David Houghton of Lewiston, MI, Lynn Houghton of Tamarack, MN, June (Robert) Ringle of Laingsburg, MI and Donna (Robert) Anderson of Lansing, MI, 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and her brother Nathan (Marianne) Spencer of Owosso.
