Lawrence Gettner Obituary

Published by Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home - Fraser from Nov. 17 to Nov. 18, 2010.
Lawrence L. Gettner, resident of Fraser, died peacefully November 16, 2010 surrounded by the love of his family. He was 67 years of age.

Larry was born on May 24, 1943 in Detroit, son of the late Bernadette Saroli. He was united in marriage to his beloved Diane J. on July 16, 1988. Larry worked as a Tooling Engineer by trade working for Guardian Automotive for over 10 years. His passion was to be on the water in his boat, ""We'll Sea"", with his wife. Larry also enjoyed a good game of Poker with his buddies. He was known as a big tease with his great sense of humor, and always made everyone smile the moment they saw him. He was a very generous man who always had a helping hand to lend. Larry loved having his grandchildren around and watching them, amazed by their beauty and innocence. He led a simple life filled with compassion. The lives he touched were many and the legacy of love he leaves behind will stay with us forever.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Diane J.; dearest children, Robyn Drumm, Jennifer (Kenn) Griessel and Che' (Noelle) Johnston; cherished grandchildren, Emily, Nolan, Noah, Elizabeth, Evan, Andrew and Lily; loving siblings, Barbara (Chuck) Pitts, Bernadette (Don) Sharon and Errol (Connie) Gettner.

Visitation will be held in Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Thursday 1pm – 9pm and Friday 10am until the time of service at 11am. Memorial contributions may be addressed to the Henry Ford Hospice, One Ford Place-5A, Detroit, MI 48202.

Dear Diane and Family: I don‘t know what to say at this time in your life of sorrow and pain, just time will heal. Larry was a good friend, listener and a patience man especially with me, when I lost John. He would get mad at me and in the next breath forgive me, with his smile. I will miss his sense of humor his “WHAT” saying and his little quirks. We don't know why God had taken Larry from us but I am sure he had other jobs for Larry to fulfill. Maybe someone needed a captain for their boat, or maybe a poker player (hope you have enough quarters), but whatever the job will be, you will get it done. Diane you are a very strong person, but if you every need someone to talk to, or just sit and listen I will be there for you. Diane and Family, you will be in my prayers and thoughts and may you find Peace. Also Larry, when you see John, tell him I love him. Love yea Larry, and Thank you for your friendship.
