Melvin "Uncle Mel" Swanson

Melvin "Uncle Mel" Swanson Aurelius Township, Formerly of Eaton Rapids Left for his heavenly home, September 16, 2010. Melvin was born March 28, 1927 in Lansing, the son of Ole and Bessie Swanson. He worked for Lindell Drop Forge for 40 years, Darrells Market on the weekends for 35 years and Merindorf Meats, where he was best known as the "demo man," for 14 years. Melvin leaves behind to celebrate his life, wife, Audrey; daughter, Michelle (Kenneth) Sprague; 2 grandsons, Sean and Ian Sprague; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie; parents, Bessie (Frank) Marks and Ole Swanson; 2 sisters, Margaret Storer, Freda Swanson; 2 brothers, Eugene and Loren Swanson. Funeral services will be 11a.m. Monday September 20, 2010 at the Aurelius Baptist Church, 4419 W. Barnes Rd. Mason, MI 48854 with Rev. Steve Aikin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 4-8p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Aurelius Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial contributions may be made to the Aurelius Baptist Church Building Fund, The American Cancer Society or the charity of choice.
