Pete was a great guy-we met hin when he coached a bunch of young girls with the youth basketball league several years ago. He always had a smile and stopped to chat at school events. It is unfortunate that death is one of the few times that we realize what an influence one has on us. Pete Benton was one of those guys that played the game of softball hard, aggressive and with tenacity. You began to know Petey by his number, then by name after you asked who he was. After a while, and if you were fortunate, you got to be around him and play with him and see his infectious personality that demanded you to play at your best all of the time. There are a lot of ball players who are better because of what Petey demanded out of them. Thanks Pete, Lord knows that I picked up a thing or two from you along the way and enjoyed our times on the field together.

Pete was such an amazing influence on one of our kids as her coach last season. His passion for softball was reflected in every girl who was on his team. Her season with him relit a spark that we hadn't seen in quite awhile. His impact on our whole family will not be forgotten.
Pete, you are truly loved and missed by everyone who had the honor of meeting and spending time with you. To the Benton family, you are all in our constant thoughts and prayers.

Pete was an amazing person inside and out. I don't think there was one person Pete did not like. He loved his family so very much, and loves his girls even more. Even though Pete went to be with the Lord, I will always remember Pete and what he did for me. Pete is an wonderful coach and father, not only to his girls but to all the girls he coached in softball. Having the opportunity to coach with Pete, was a life time experience I will never forget. He knew the game, loved the game, and coached for all the girls. Pete had a perfect record coaching the girls J.V. softball team in ER last season. His team went 22 and O, and that will always be remembered. I will always remember Pete
and what he did for the girls in ER. I will miss Pete so much, as I know other will as well. I know Pete is up in heaven looking over all of us, and he will be greatly missed. We love you Pete, and I miss you so very much! "Coach D" I will see you in Heaven one day.
