Max Hassett Obituary

Max E. Hassett Charlotte Age 76, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 24, 2010. Max was born August 19, 1933 in the Traverse City area, the son of Floyd and Lillian (Snyder) Hassett. He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Navy. Max retired from General Motors after 22 years of service. He loved to fish and spend time tinkering in his woodworking shop. He loved the freedom of the sky and the open road, having his privated pilots license and taking many a motorcycle trip around the country. Most important in Max's life was his love for his family. Max was preceded in death by his son, Aaron Hassett and sister, Doris Dow. Surviving are his wife of 7½years, Nancy; son, Eric Hassett; stepdaughters, Jody (Ron) Karl and Lori (Tom) Mason; grandchildren, Amy (Nate) Arnold and Tammy (Eric) Rose; 9 step grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, Ethan and McKenzie Arnold; 19 step great-grandchildren; stepmother, Ruth Clark; brother, Robert (Dorothy) Hassett; stepsister, Pat (David) Allen; stepbrothers, Butch (Jana) Hassett and Mike Hassett. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Klein as Celebrant. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel and Thursday from 9:45 a.m. until service time at the church. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers' Disease Association or the American Diabetes Association in memory of Max Hassett. To Lori and her family,
Pam and I send our condolences and love. Lori, having recently lost my mom, who was also a GM retiree, this touches our hearts.
