Albine Mangan Obituary

Albine Marie Mangan ("Oma Bezzie") Mason Albine Marie Mangan, age 93, born September 29, 1916 in Schönbrunn, Bohemia to Ferdinand and Stefanie Pachowsky, passed peacefully from this life to the next on her way to church on Good Shepherd Sunday, April 25, 2010. Her family having been forced to re-settle from Schönbrunn to the Munich area following World War II, Albine met and married U.S. Air Force Chaplain's Assistant Patrick Eugene Mangan in 1948. They were blessed with six children before Patrick's sudden and untimely death in 1960 while on active duty in Panama. Buoyed by her faith in God and the support of her extended family, Albine devoted her entire life's love and energy to her children, whom she raised primarily in Mount Clemens, MI. What a wonderful Matriarch she was (and is)! Sweet as a honey-bee, precious and graceful to the end was our "Oma Bezz." Her soul glorifies the Lord! She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters; husband, Patrick; and son, Christopher. She is survived by her sister, Trudi Michl (Stefan) of Maisach, Germany; her children, Margaret Detzler (Douglas) of Greenfield, IN, Patrick Mangan of Indianapolis, IN, Thomas Mangan (Rose Marie) of Greenwood, IN, Trudy Mangan-Brandenburg (Paul) of Mason, MI, Cynthia Engler (Egon) of Emmendingen, Germany; and her "Kinderlein": Stephanie, Cynthia, Catherine, Patrick, Laura, Rebecca, Thomas, Joseph, Sarah, James, Daniel, Matthias, Benedikt, Matthea, Peter, Christine and Benjamin. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing Road in Mason, MI, Father Alan J. Wakefield presiding. The family will receive friends Sunday May 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, with a rosary service commencing at 7:30 p.m. Interment will follow on Tuesday May 4 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Cemetery in Empire, MI, with Rite of Committal commencing at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those wishing to honor Albine to make a contribution to Catholic Charities USA, P.O. Liebe Cindi und Familie,
tief betroffen haben wir vom Tod euerer Mutter erfahren. Wir wünschen euch in der Trauer, viel Kraft, Zuversicht und die Gewissheit, dass der Herr all unsere Wege lenkt und es schlusssendlich immer gut ist, was er tut- auch dann wenn wir Menschen dies nicht immer erkennen.

Dear Trudi and Family, My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. I knew your Mom mostly from hanging out with "Red" and "Gomez". I'm blessed to have known her. She was a great woman. I think of Chris often and take comfort that your mom, dad and Chris are looking down upon us with grace.

Wir alle zählen zu den Glücklichen, die Albine Mangan, Bezzi, kennenlernen durften. Sie hat es mit großem Geschick, einem enormen Kraftaufwand, aber auch mit Ihrer Art zu Leben stets verstanden, die Familie und Freunde zusammenzuhalten und vorwärts zu bringen.
Seit meinem ersten Treffen mit ihr in Mount Clemens haben wir uns auf Anhieb gut verstanden und einige gemeinsame Erlebnisse gehabt, ich denke nur an unsere Reisen im März 1980 nach Lansing und Indianapolis, oder die Feier des irischen Nationalfeiertages
mit ihr und Patrick in Mt.Clemens.
Eine große Persönlichkeit hat uns verlassen, der Verlust wiegt sicherlich für alle schwer.Wir haben heute im Kölner Dom eine Kerze zu ihrem Gedenken angezündet.

The Mangan family was my second family and I cherish the many hours I spent in their home with dear Mrs. Mangan. I will never forget her warm welcome, kind smile, encouragement,graceful hospitality and Christlike manner. Her ability to raise a family on her own of six kids was nothing short of a miracle. I will never forget her.

Bezzie was like another grandmother to me. She is a blessing and anyone who knew her on this earth could not help but love her. I am sad that we will not see her here again, but lightened to know she passed peacefully from this world to the next and is now reunited with those who went before her.
