Andrew Taylor, Jr. Lansing Andrew "Jr.", age 87, died October 3, 2013 at Sparrow Hospice of Lansing with his family at his side. He was born on September 20, 1926 to Andrew Taylor, Sr. and Betty Lou (Holly) Taylor, in Rome, Mississippi. Mr. Taylor worked at Fisher Body for 45 years and was proud to say that he never took a day of sick leave. He loved to take long walks in the neighborhood, enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching baseball and westerns and listening to country music. But his passion was cooking; he was an excellent cook and loved to barbecue. He was a faithful member of Galilee Baptist Church until his illness, where he served on the Trustee Board. He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Betty Marie (Taylor) Swanson; parents; step-father, Clifton Johnson; four brothers; and three sisters. His memory will be forever cherished by: his loving wife, Nettie; children, Lexcie (Charles) Blockett, Angelene Hill, Doris Taylor and Nikkesia Williams; and step-children, Arvis (Deborah) Rhodes of Lansing and Carolyn (Johnie) Jones of Riverdale, GA; granddaughters, Tina Moore, Michelle (Wayne) Porter, Evangelist Doris (Steve) Harris, all of Lansing, Fatima (Virgil) McDaniels of Columbus, OH, and Kendria Rhodes of Novi, MI; grandsons, Kevin Swanson of Los Angeles, CA, Mark Swanson (Genet) of Alexandria, VA, Tony Rhodes of Riverdale, GA, Bruce Anthony Swanson, Rashad Rhodes, and Jarell and Jagr Williams, all of Lansing; plus nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in his name to Galilee Baptist Church, 2511Reo Rd., Lansing 48911 or the , 5303 S. Cedar, Bldg. 1, Lansing, MI 48911. Mr. Taylor will lie in repose on Sunday, October 6, 3-9 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St. Lansing, MI. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7, 12 pm at Galilee Baptist Church, 2511 Reo Road Lansing, MI with the family receiving friends 30 minutes prior.
