Ann Flescher Obituary

Ann E. Flescher Lansing, MI Age 49, died May 23, 2008. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Rabbi Michael Zimmerman, the Rev. Karen Gale, and the Rev. Melanie Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Ann worked at the Michigan State University Counseling Center for the past 16 years as a social worker, counselor and administrator. She dedicated her life to assisting others in achieving their goals and sense of wholeness. Ann worked passionately for social justice on individual, systems and community levels. Friendship and family relationships were of utmost importance in Ann's life and she was truly devoted to her surviving life partner of over 25 years, Dawn Lorraine Mead. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Norman Flescher. She is survived by: her stepmother, Audrey Remer of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Barbara (Robert) Liss of Ventura, CA; sister, Arleen (Bradley) Reetz of Redwood City, CA; nieces and nephews, Steven (Angela) Sorkin of Augusta, GA, Bridgette (Josh) Reetz of Valencia, CA, Scott (Jade) Reetz of Medford, OR, Ian (Monica) Rosenfield of Daly, CA, Matthew (Ines) Rosenfield of Medford, OR, and Devin Rosen, Kelsey Rosen and Nicholas Orsborn of Lansing; 8 great-nieces and nephews, with one more expected to be born this year. Ann is also survived by uncles and aunts, Larry and Liliana Friedman of Brighton Beach, FL, Allen and Arlene Friedman of Montgomery, NY, as well as cousins, Rella (Howard Schindler) Friedman of Bayside, NY, Michael (June) Friedman of N. Massapequa, NY, and Adam (Theresa) Friedman of Tuckahoe, NY. Ann believed herself to be very blessed by the close friendships she maintained over her lifetime, and considered most of these relationships to be familial. Three days of shiva will be observed at her home, to begin immediately after the graveside portion of the service.
