Ann Acker Obituary

Ann Loraine Acker After a two-year battle with breast cancer, Ann passed from this life into the next to be with her Lord and Savior on April 14, 2010 at the age of 57. Her great spirit and love of life, friends, and family blessed all who knew her. Born May 22, 1952 to Robert and Arlene Acker, she lived her life in the Lansing area. She loved to travel and found great joy in experiencing nature's wonders all over the country. She also loved to gather her friends together for evenings of great fellowship and fun, and her smile and laughter would fill up a room. She was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Acker and her brother-in-law, Wayne DeCort of Ionia. She is survived by her husband, William Nummy; father, Robert Acker; her sister Jan Decort; her niece Julie Yuhas (Aaron Yuhas); her nephew Dan DeCort (Mishay DeCort); step children, Melissa Vaughn (Dave Vaughn), Eden Cooper (Andrew Cooper), and Brian Nummy (Anna Simon); 3 great nieces, Kali and Leiya DeCort and Ella Yuhas; and 3 step grandchildren, Ava and Lauren Vaughn and Evan Cooper. A gathering to celebrate her life will be set at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Ann wished for contributions in her memory to be sent to the Lansing Humane Society. I remember Ann being that little sister of my friend, Jan. Then she grew up and was so much fun to be around. She was a good listener and saw the positive side of things. She will be missed. She taught me how to make some really good drinks.

I remember Anne from being around our house as a teenager. She had such an infectious laugh. Her schoolhood friends in the last few years went out or got together monthly and what fun and love that they all shared. The next time that you girls get together don't forget to set a place for Ann, she'll be there with you always...Condolences to her family, she'll live on in your memories.

I am definitely going to miss Ann's smiling face. Each time I talked with her at work, her laughter made my day no matter how bad of a day I was having. Although, she will be greatly missed, I thank God she's not suffering anymore.

Working with Ann made the workday that much more enjoyable. Her laugher, smile and energy were always the highlight of any day. What a wonderful caring person. I’m blessed to have known Ann even though it was only for the time both of us worked at Emergent. May God bless.

Regards,

Robert Maron
