Annetta Barbara Figg Ionia Formerly of Mulliken The long, fruitful and rewarding life of Annetta B. Figg ended on June 25, 2013. Fortunate to share in this reward and preceded in death were husband, Lyle Lynd (December 1949), daughter, Marilyn (July, 1976), husband, Harold (November 1991) and daughter Anita (July, 1998). She passed peacefully after a long health struggle. Born and raised in Nashville in depression era Michigan on June 23, 1928; she began life in a family of 11 siblings. She successfully raised 10 children: Anita, Kathy, Marilyn, Diane, Frances, Janice, Karl, Jeff, John and Jill. She was fortunate to see 17 grandchildren enter this world to follow in her footstep; ranging in age from 6 weeks to 27 years. She loved them all deeply. Annetta rose above the rural poverty and gender class stereotypes of the times to become a teacher, sewing instructor, encyclopedia salesperson, dental technician, artist, factory worker and factory production manager. Untiring sacrifice for family to have the opportunities and comforts she rarely enjoyed were the trademark of her selflessness. She leaves us with many life lessons taught through example: compassionate caring, the value of doing your best in all of one's endeavors, honesty, the importance and never ending process of education, the reward of honest work, the creative and artistic side of us all, appreciation of nature and beauty, humility, friendship and unconditional love. In the last years of her life she was fortunate to be afforded rest from her labors and experienced peaceful, relaxing and wonderful times with her partner, Cass Grabski. Together they traveled, experienced joy and felt peace. The family deeply thanks Cass for providing such a beautiful, full and wonderful experience; including the traditional glass of wine while watching Tigers baseball. We are forever in you debt. She added exponentially more to this world than she took from it. This is the ultimate measure of her successful life. She will be missed greatly. The immediate family members will continue to emulate and build upon this same success. Services 11 A.M. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken. Interment followed at Meadowbrook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
